When we redid the girls' dollhouse we told Nuelie we would do something special for his room. His room is very small, but there is a little alcove where we made him a set of shelves for him to play with and keep his legos. We wanted to make it special, so we used old maps and two books by Oliver Jeffers.

Stuck is a hilarious book. This little boy gets a kite stuck in a tree, and he ends up throwing everything around, including a blue whale and a firetruck up on tree to try to get the kite down. Once upon an Alphabet is wonderful book with short stories for each letter of the alphabet.
The alphabet book is less colorful than the Stuck book, so I decided to cut out some moments from it to paste over the more quiet moments from Once upon an Alphabet.

Starting to get some layouts done.
This little monster guy is great.

Vintage map pages from an atlas.
.
The map pages were used on the shelves and as a border on the panels on the walls.

The panels with the background pages on them without the colorful cutouts from Stuck.

The maps obviously do not create a realistic world - we have India next to Mexico - but it's still fun!

Ritter put these brackets and shelves up - those screws had to go into concrete and brick, and it sounded crazy when the drill was working - thankful for my husband all the time.

This little tank is by Oxford - a lego like company from Korea.
Star Wars legos are the best!

Love this goofy little boy!

His hands look so much bigger than they should be for a six year old.
